Yes - start recognition in the "Text recognition (OCR)" panel. Uncertain words are shown next to the scanned image so you can correct them quickly. Then choose an output: a searchable PDF (the original images stay, with selectable text underneath), or a retypeset PDF in a real font - in the original layout or reflowed like an e-book. Recognition runs on our own server; your document is not sent to any external provider.

Yes - turn on "Multi-region crop" mode at the bottom of the crop menu, then select and confirm as many areas on the page as you like, one after another. Each appears as its own small preview and can be saved as a separate output file/page.

Yes - in the "Templates" panel, give a name to your selected area(s) and save it. Later, load it back anytime from the dropdown with one click, even on a different page or document - if a template contains selections from multiple pages, each one is restored to its own page.

Yes - the "Precise size" panel lets you enter the exact crop coordinates (left/top/right/bottom) in millimeters or points, for when you need more precision than freehand drawing.

Yes - the "Snap to margin" button detects the actual content of the page and adjusts the selection to skip the unnecessary white margins. You can choose whether it applies to the current page only, or to all (visible) pages.

A normal crop keeps what you select. Inverse crop does the opposite: it DELETES the selected area (leaves it empty), everything else stays in place and the page size does not change - e.g. after cutting a 2×2 cm square out of the middle of an A4 page you still get one full A4 page with an empty hole. You can mark several holes in multi-region mode, where it can also be combined with a normal crop; otherwise a new crop replaces the previous one (Undo brings it back). When saving a vector PDF the page stays vector, and the content inside the hole (the affected letters of the text, the part of lines and shapes inside the hole, the pixels of images inside the hole) is really removed from the file, not just hidden. For a rare page with an unusual structure that cannot be processed safely as vector, the page is made as an image and you get a message about it.

Yes, it can be used for that, and it is different from plain masking: in a vector PDF the content outside the crop (with inverse crop, the content inside the hole) is really removed from the file - the affected letters of the text, the lines and shapes, and the image pixels inside the hole - not just covered by a white rectangle. JPG and raster PDF outputs only contain the remaining pixels to begin with. The source document metadata (author, title, XMP, bookmarks, attachments, links) is not carried over into the output. What is not deleted, and what to watch for: (1) a letter that straddles the crop edge stays, as it is half visible on the cropped page; (2) embedded font files may keep the shapes of characters because of the rest of the document text (the order and position of the deleted text cannot be reconstructed from them); (3) the remaining images keep their own embedded data (e.g. EXIF); (4) the uploaded original stays on the server for the duration of your editing session (see the Privacy notice). The program is not a certified redaction tool: in critical cases open the result after saving and try to select or copy the text to make sure it is gone.

Cropping changes the document, so the original digital signature loses its validity - this is true for every cropping tool. The program recognizes a signed PDF on upload and warns you. The saved file will not be signed, and the visible signature stamp is not carried over into vector output (without a signature it would be misleading). For information, the details of the original signature (signer, time, reason) and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the source file are written into the saved PDF metadata (for JPG export, into ORIGINAL_SIGNATURE.txt in the zip) - this gives traceability, but it is not cryptographic proof. The original file stays unchanged. If the cropped document has to be signed, do that after cropping, with your own certificate, using a separate tool.

In the Save section, check the "Shareable link" option - after saving, you'll get a time-limited link you can easily forward or open on another device, instead of a direct download.

The maximum PDF, PS, or EPS upload size is currently 200 MB.

Uploaded files are kept only for the duration of your session, for editing purposes - they are not archived or shared.

JPG export gives each cropped page as a separate image file (packaged in a ZIP). Raster PDF combines those same images into a single PDF file. Vector PDF preserves the original document's vector (text/line) content as precisely as possible instead of converting it to an image - this gives the smallest file size and best quality. When cropping, the content outside the selection (with inverse crop, the content inside the hole) is really removed from the file, not just hidden. What remains keeps the exact font, size and position of the original, because the page is not re-drawn: the untouched content is copied over verbatim.

This only happens with password-protected (encrypted) PDFs: for security reasons, no encrypted PDF can be opened, even if the password is blank/known. Raster export (JPG, raster PDF) still works in that case, because it uses a different, more capable tool.

Yes, the interface is touch-optimized: draw the crop box with one finger, scroll/zoom with two fingers. All the tools live under a single collapsible "Menu" so they don't take up unnecessary screen space.
